Health & Safety At WCA

At World Class Academy, we take health & safety precautions seriously. We want parents and guardians to feel comfortable in knowing what measures we are taking to ensure your child is in great hands.

Daily Cleaning

Everyday all tables are sprayed with a soap and water solution followed by a bleach and water solution for a minimum of 10 seconds prior to wiping them down. Chairs are wiped down at the end of the day or as needed. Bathrooms are monitored throughout the day and cleaned whenever necessary. Floors are swept with a broom throughout the day. Spills are cleaned up immediately with soap and water. Disinfectant is used as needed. Center materials and toys are disinfected with a bleach and water mist before nap and at the end of the day.

Each evening our janitor vacuums all floors and carpets. Floors are mopped and a deep clean is done in the bathrooms. All door handles and windows are wiped down. He ends his nightly cleaning routine using the Emist machine throughout the whole center.

In addition to our cleaning procedures, we also have a UV light air sanitation system in each HVAC unit.

Pick-Up/Drop-Off

We have placed hand sanitizer outside the front door for parents to use prior to entering the school office. We require social distancing as you wait to pick up or drop off your children. No more than two parents are allowed in the office at a time and we provide hand sanitizer there as well. As we take your child in, their temperature will be taken and logged. They are then escorted to the bathroom to wash their hands before going to their classroom. Parents are unable to enter the classroom at this time.

At pick-up we ask parents to please call ahead to give us notice that you’re on your way. We do our best to have your child cleaned up in their classrooms and brought up to the office to meet you.

Illness

Health department regulations mandate that any child in a care facility suspected of having a communicable disease be sent home from the facility. Should your child become ill, we will call you regarding your child’s condition and may ask you to pick them up. Your child will be allowed to come back to school with a doctor’s note stating that it is safe to do so. Signs and symptoms of a suspected contagious illness include any of the following:

  • Severe coughing, causing the child to become red or blue in the face or make a whooping sound
  • Difficult or rapid breathing
  • Diarrhea (more than one abnormally loose stool within a 24 hour period)
  • Temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit or higher
  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye)
  • Exposed, open skin lesions
  • Unusually dark urine and/or gray or white stool
  • Yellowish skin or eyes
  • Any other unusual sign or symptoms or illness

If your child is sent home with any of the above symptoms, they must remain out for 24 hours unless you can provide a doctor’s note stating that the child is healthy enough to return to school.

Tours

Tours are done in-person by appointment. Masks must be worn prior to entering the building as well as the use of hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer must be used before leaving the office area. We try to book tours when the children are out of the classroom and in the playground.

In the Event of Closing for Quarantine

Disinfecting procedures will be carried out according to the CDC and The Health Department.

Stay At Home Learning

We can provide websites and lesson plans. The possibility of virtual learning for VPK may be an option.
